Richard Matthews Real Estate Supports Ovarian Cancer Australia with $20,000 in Donations 8 / 23

Smashing the original goal of $10,000, Richard Matthews Real Estate raised $20,000 in donations for Ovarian Cancer Australia in less than 20 days.

The team raised $6,105 in community donations and, exceeding the promise to match donations, instead rounded up to a generous $13,895 donation from the company.

The donations were collected in the lead up to World Ovarian Cancer Day on May 8th, coinciding this year with Mother’s Day. The team held a fundraising morning tea and continued activities across five energetic auctions, spanning Sydney’s Inner and South West.

A cause very close the hearts of the team at Richard Matthews, especially Director Richard Baini, everyone was thrilled to learn their donations will go toward vital high impact research, crucial awareness campaigns, information sessions, online support and empowering resilience kits.

About the company lead initiative, Director & Auctioneer Richard Baini said, “We are blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people who have contributed a huge $6,105 to our Ovarian Cancer fundraiser. This is something that means a lot to me personally and Matthew and I have agreed to match every donation dollar for dollar with a little extra, bringing our total money raised to $20,000”.

He continued, “having lost my mother to this deadly disease I have seen the impact is has on those going through it as well as their family and friends.”

Ovarian cancer characteristically has little to know symptoms in the early stages, making detection difficult and awareness essential. The most commonly reported symptoms for ovarian cancer are:

  • Increased abdominal size or persistent abdominal bloating
  • Abdominal or pelvic (lower tummy) pain
  • Feeling full after eating a small amount
  • Needing to urinate often or urgently
